What's on your wish list for Christmas: My Christmas wish is to find the one book combination that excites readers to the point they won't put my work down. I love writing and won't stop just because my "sales" aren't over the top of the charts, but like everyone else, I'd love to find my bank account in the black. Oh, yes, and I want to win million dollars so I can move back to Oregon and stay home near my grandkids and write, and I want to take a motorcycle riding class so I can get my own Harley-Davidson, and I want to win a trip to Scotland for writing inspiration, and...and...of course, world peace.

Chris, you've been busy! You had a release in October 2008, HEALTHY HOMICIDE, and another release this month, CATS IN THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION. Please tell us a bit about these books and a little more about yourself.

Of course I remember you. When I left you were elbow deep in wedding plans. Hope that went well. Also recall, Genene saying you jumped into MWV with both feet and took an officer's position. Whew! Very brave.

What Genene has listed is the half of it.
It's really been a very good year. In April, I had a release from Wings ePress, Inc. of my 3rd romance novel, IF ONLY, released under my Celia Cooper pseudonym. It won the May Golden Wings Award for excellent writing.
You could have knocked me over with a feather. [Teehee, a feather, get it?]
Then I was fortunate enough to be asked to submit something to the new epublisher RoguePhoenixPress and they accepted my story HEALTHY HOMICIDE which became the launch book for the publishing house. It just worked out that CATS IN THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION was moved forward to December for publication and while, the first time since September 2001, the release date has been pushed back to the 10th it is still in 2008.
It has made my head spin - 3 books in one year.
Now the downside of that is that I have to put my ever expanding rear-end in the seat and write!

I sort of gave a clue to what an insane year this has been what with my three releases. For all who write figure galleys times three!
Good thing the weather here has been nice enough for the hubby to ride most of the year. When I get to pulling my hair out, he jumps on the Harley and "goes for a ride". Oh, sure!
I've been fortunate that I've had good editors and friends who've encouraged my writing. CATS IN THE CRADLE oOF CiIVILIZATION is the 6th release of my writing and I'm just beginning.
I had a fantasy story published just as I joined RWA in Salem back in 2001(?). Shortly after joining, my first romance novel, OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER, was accepted by a then-new epublishing house and released in 2003. I followed with a sequel, SUN IN SAGITTARIUS, MOON IN MAZATLAN, released in 2005 and then my third romance novel, IF ONLY, released this year in April.
HEALTHY HOMICIDE is my first foray into true suspense writing. It's my own favorite to read and I had always hoped to have the wherewithall to be able to write it. Around the same time I was experimenting with CATS IN THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION and had just turned it in at the beginning of the year when it was accepted and set up for release. As it is with the "business", things changed quickly and my release date was moved forward. [Might just help that I edit, copyedit, and do some accounting paperwork for my publisher--maybe not.]
I've got a series of novelettes I'm calling commuter books (easy reads that can be picked up and finished in a couple commuter trips to work)and, of course, I'm writing a faerie story for the Valentine 2010 Anthology at RoguePhoenixPress with a "walk on" role that was won for a retired librarian by her daughters.
I'm also hip deep in dragons and shapeshifters on a story that was my first publishing which has now morphed into a triology. This is the one hubby thinks will "make it" for me. Time will tell once I get it written.
Outside of that, I really am hoping to take riding classes and get my own Harley. Outside of the savings, it's just darn fun.
As Genene said, we'll be heading back to the Northwest in the spring and looking to connect with friends and family. We got our Christmas present early when our at-the-time estranged children reconnected. Now in the blink of an eye, I have 9 grandchildren! [and not one labor pain.]
You made the mistake of asking me to write something, Genene. Didn't realize you were going to get a new book, did you? ;>)

It's been so good to reconnect with you and to plan the Valentine's Day 2010 anthology with you and Christine Young. Everyone will be hearing more about that soon as the three of us crank up the promotion machine for that release. Ooooh, have we been planning. :)

I totally dropped telling what each of the new books are about. Duh! HEALTHY HOMICIDE is about greed, avarice, and murder in a day spa.
"Two murders have occurred at the Barrel Springs Day Spa. Police push to find the method, and reason, before anyone else turns up dead."
Originally written for a retiring supervisor who professed to be a writer, HEALTHY HOMICIDE incorporated numerous co-workers in the plot. With help from my sister, and my editor at RoguePhoenixPress I narrowed down the cast of characters to what is presented here.
CATS IN THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION started as the "short story" for and anthology and quickly evolved into the novel it is today."Glenda Nagel, editor for Getty Museum’s monthly magazine Archeology in Today’s World, loves her home in the Juniper Hills and her cats. Reading, writing and publishing about ancient Egyptian artifacts is one thing, but when an ivory and emerald statuette of the cat goddess Bastet makes its way to her home and sets her cats on edge, Glenda is panicked.
How did this priceless artifact find its way to her? Who knows about this and why has the debonair, handsome, new Antiquities Director become so determined to visit her high desert home? Doesn’t Egypt have enough deserts?
I hope readers will enjoy reading these as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Aw, Chris, thanks for the compliment on FEATHERS! As you said about your books, they are fun to write. Frustrating at times, as the hero (Mitch) in FEATHERS didn't want to share much about himself for a long time. Until I realized he didn't share his emotions with anyone until he came to admit his love for Julia.
I know, I know--get out of the way of the characters and let them write their own story!
