DAY 2 FEATURED AUTHOR: TERRI REED

Terri's Web site:  http://www.loveinspiredauthors.com

Favorite holiday book: One of my favorite holiday books is "The 25 Days of Christmas" by Rebecca Hayford Bauer. This books counts down the days to Christmas with recipes, suggestions of when to mail packages and cards, decoration ideas, hymns and devotions that bring the focus of Christmas to its true meaning, the birth of Christ. Don't get me wrong, I love all the gifts and the parties and treats of Christmas but amid all the commercial hoopla it's nice to have something to remind me every day that the spirit of Christmas isn't about presents and Santa but about God and His love of humanity.

Welcome, Terri! And thank you for being my guest author today.

You write Inspirational Suspense novels, correct? Please tell me how those differ from the original Steeple Hill Love Inspired stories.

(And I'm posting this question now in hopes my doggies will let me sleep in Tuesday morning!)

Yes! My doggies let me sleep in. No middle-of-the-night charges to the window to bark at ... well, at whatever. I have seven doggies at my house right now, so that's not something you can easily sleep through. :)

Terri, your bio says you have an array of critters. What furred, feathered and finned critters share your life right now? (Yes, my two fish are much quieter than my dogs!)

Hi there, Genene! Thought I'd drop by and say hello. I think this is a wonderful contest, and a chance to meet new authors!

Good morning, Nickie! Or should I say good evening where you are? I'm working on getting that time difference down. :)

So glad you stopped by and I'm looking forward to chatting with you more tomorrow!

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who freak out about Christmas because I think there's so much to accomplish, when really Terri is right and it's supposed to be a spiritual and family time. It's just so hard to remember that over the incessant repetition of Christmas carols that start after Halloween...

Hi Genene, thanks for having me here today.
The suspense novels differ from the original Love Inspired books in that though the both books are romances there is a strong suspense element that ties the plot together where as the original LI's are more character driven.

As for critters in the house, at the moment we have two dogs, one large Aussie (the family dog) and a small Llaso/Fris mix (my daughter's dog). They play well together. We have at times had guinea pigs, hamsters and fish. My son is advocating for another dog, one to call his own.

Nikki, glad you stopped by. Merry Christmas.

Jessa, I hear you on the carols playing too early. Though I love the music I can't listen until after Thanksgiving.

Thanks again for having me here.

Hi Terri!

I like to start "thinking" when December hits. So that's where I am now. Playing Christmas music and making gingerbread men.

Sorry I disappeared for awhile. My son is working on my house projects and needed an extra pair of hands. We made major progress in repairing the holes in the side of my house. Woo-hoo! Having grown children who know how to build things is soooooo handy!

Terri, thanks for explaining the difference between the "regular" Love Inspired and the LI suspense. That's kinda what I thought, but I haven't kept up with all the changes in the Harlequin/Silhouette lines.

Guinea pigs were what I remember you having! They are adorable, but I don't think they would be impressed with all my dogs, especially the Jack Russell terrier mix. :)

Jessa, I think I was one of those obnoxious people SINGING Christmas carols even before Halloween because I had already started on promotion for my Christmas-themed book.

For me, I think that's actually been a good thing. I also have pretty much finished shopping and I'm not going to do elaborate decorations at my house. That means I'll be less stressed than in some previous years and will actually have the time to focus on family and the deeper meaning of Christmas.

However, I tried to sing those Christmas carols quietly so I didn't disturb people with more sanity than me. LOL!

Like Terri, my marker for blatant Christmas preparation is the day after Thanksgiving. I don't do the Black Friday shopping frenzy though. That's scary and I try to stay home that day. However, this year, my keyboard died and I had to go to the mall to get another one. It was afternoon by then and the crowds were pretty mild--don't know if they were sleepy or the wildest ones had gone home for a nap, but I survived!

Paty, I love the thought of Christmas music and gingerbread men--the perfect sound and smell of Christmas, well along with a real tree. Love the smell of a freshly cut tree fir tree too.

Now I'm really in the mood for Christmas!
